Charging the battery of the smartphone in 30 seconds

On held recently in tel Aviv's Think Next Symposium held by the company Microsoft, a young Israeli company StoreDot demonstrated a workable prototype of a new battery, created on the basis of organic "nanotech", which can be fully charged in less than 30 seconds of time. The company StoreDot has serious plans on starting mass production of such batteries intended for use with the most popular models of smartphones and other portable electronics. And in the longer term, is the adaptation of the developed technology for fast charging batteries of electric vehicles.

As is well known to almost everyone, with the charging batteries of portable electronic devices is very slow. This is due to the fact that this process involved a chemical reaction that can be accelerated, but this acceleration can lead to malfunction of battery and to its destruction accompanied by fire.

But all the foregoing does not apply to batteries, the design of which was developed by StoreDot. Experts of the company using the technology of chemical synthesis of Bioorganic molecules to produce peptides, which they call the term ninotchka (nanodots). These ninotchka, due to their small size and chemical properties, allows to increase the capacitive performance of the battery and radically change the processes occurring in the environment of the electrolyte.

"We are mainly involved in the development of electrodes of batteries, which are based on brand new materials. We call this technology the technology of multi-function electrodes (MFE - Multi Function Electrode)" - says Miersdorf Doron (Doron Myersdorf), the President of the company StoreDot, - "on the one hand the battery works like a capacitor, charged at a very high speed, and as a rechargeable lithium battery that can store energy for a long period of time. And of course, in order to make our multi-function electrodes as efficient as possible, we use the electrolyte-filled nanomachine that dramatically alter its chemical and physical properties".

It should be recognized that there are other batteries that use technology nanotech and quantum dots. But in the composition of the electrolyte or electrodes of such batteries are always used heavy metals, making them toxic and unsafe for people and the environment. Ninotchka company StoreDot is made from bio-organic materials which are safe and which are in abundance in the world around us. For the production of nanotech use innovative processes and technologies of self-Assembly that makes the final product fairly inexpensive.

The company StoreDot plans to begin mass production of batteries based on nanotech in 2016, and now operated for the registration and confirmation of the relevant patents. After that, the company specialists plan to begin to build batteries for electric cars, which should have a higher capacity to provide higher current density and can withstand extremely adverse conditions.
